Critical Link International spearheaded a movement that has evolved into a robust field of study, research, and professional practice in community interpreting.

Looking to Get Involved?  CLI is also issuing a call for a Treasurer.
This position is currently vacant, and we are calling out to all of our membership, in particular those with experience acting as Treasurer, or with strong bookkeeping skills, to join us on the Board of Directors. If you are interested, please email us at admin@criticallink.org for more details and an application form.

Linking the World for the Advancement of Community Interpreting

In addition to this critical Board role, CLI is also extending an invitation to all members to work with us on a variety of initiatives. CLI has 5 active committees, all of which are seeking helping heads and hands:

1. Communications
2. Membership
3. Research and Development
4. Resource and Fund Development
5. CLI Conference Planning

Committee members can dictate their level of participation and discuss this with the Committee Leads. If you are interested in working with us and supporting community/public service interpreters worldwide, please join us.
Contact us at contact@criticallink.org and tell us what your interests and areas of focus are and where you would like to support CLI. And if you are specifically interested in Communications, please visit this page to learn more about the Communications Committee and how to get involved.

We also want to take this opportunity to update you on the publication of proceedings and uploading to the website. We continue to be committed to the publication of the CLI9 conference papers. The COVID-19 situation has set us back some, but the Board is reorganizing the dates and will soon be issuing revised timelines. In the interim, we would like to thank all presenters, past and current, that have thoughtfully submitted their abstracts or PDFs.

Critical Link International is a non-profit organization that relies on membership dues to support the activities and costs of the organization, small as they may be. Your $50 CDN annual membership goes towards legal costs, website and technology costs, and to maintain 2 part-time contract positions. The Board of Directors at CLI volunteer their time to support things such as:

Conferences
● CLI Conferences
● Attendance at external conferences

Publications
● CLI publications
● Contributions to other publications

Partnerships and Committee activities
● ISO TC 37
● Red T Coalition
● ENPSIT

Advocacy and support
● Letters of support for
students/research/projects
● Campaigns

And so much more. As a united voice, CLI has been championing the work and profession of interpreting in specialized settings for almost 30 years. So please consider renewing your membership if you have not already done so, and to ask your organization to also support CLI through organizational membership.

It’s easy and fast – you can register here and support CLI today.
