Critical Link International spearheaded a movement that has evolved into a robust field of study, research, and professional practice in community interpreting.

Global survey on the professional status of community interpreters

Press release: 01.06.2015

CLI is pleased to support the work of Paola Gentile, a Ph.D. student in Interpreting Studies at the University of Trieste, (Italy) under the supervision of Professor Maurizio Viezzi.

Paola is conducting the first international study on community interpreting. The survey*, available in 5 languages, will research the conditions and status of community interpreters (also known as public service interpreters in some regions). This valuable work can provide for a better, global, understanding of community interpreting, and set the stage for the continued professionalization and recognition – which has been the work of CLI since 1992.
