9th International Congress on Translation and Interpreting in Public Services

March 11-13, 2026

University of Alcalá (Madrid)

In an increasingly globalized and interconnected world, Public Service Translation and Interpreting (PSIT) faces unprecedented challenges. The 9th International PSIT Congress (PSIT9) aims to delve into the complexities of contemporary society, marked by all kinds of crises (economic, war, migration, and environmental), as well as by technological advances, cultural diversity, and ethical considerations, and their impact on the changing demands of PSIT.

Many topics pose complex challenges and require deeper discussion, such as the use of machine translation and generative AI; the need for inclusive language and gender perspectives; and ethical issues that arise when working in high-risk environments such as healthcare, legal, or humanitarian settings, where accuracy, confidentiality, and impartiality are essential. This includes the well-being of translators, interpreters, and intercultural mediators, especially when faced with traumatic situations.

The TISP9 Conference seeks to explore the multidimensional challenges facing contemporary societies. The main objective of this conference is to foster a debate on the dynamics, challenges, and advances in artificial intelligence, machine translation and interpretation, and digital communication, and how they affect linguistic diversity and accessibility, as well as language communities and policies in our increasingly interconnected world.

Researchers/educators/practitioners/language service providers are invited to submit proposals in English or Spanish that will contribute to fostering inter- and transdisciplinary debate on PSIT, language rights and technology .

Important dates:
Submission of proposals: before September 15, 2025,  via the conference website.
Notification of the Scientific Committee’s decision: November 15, 2025.
